I am ALL FOR loving your body. I am ALL FOR being happy with who you are.

However, when you are 400lbs and promoting that you are HEALTHY  on television, that’s where I have a problem. Just watch the first ten minutes of ANY episode of Bones, no matter the size of the person, their bones are ALWAYS the same size. And yes, I realize it’s a tv show but the facts are still real, no matter what you weigh, everyone’s bones are the same size. They DON’T stretch to accommodate fat. Your heart is not like the Grinch’s, it doesn’t grow three sizes just because your body does.

Think of your body as a car. Now load that car up with thousands of pounds, what’s going to happen? It’s going to start breaking down. Your body will do the same. It is not made to carry 300-400 lbs.

WHITNEY WAY THORE IS NOT HEALTHY. And I am sick of seeing her argue that she is. If she wants to be 400lbs, fine. I have no problem with that. In fact, I used to love watching her show in season one because she promoted being happy with WHO YOU ARE and I think that is important. If you are happy with how your body looks, then I applaud you. Truly. But now, in season 3, she is promoting that her body is healthy and that’s just not true. Being .1 points below being a diabetic is NOT healthy. Needing a breathing machine to sleep at night is NOT healthy.

I don’t write this to shame people. (Although I know some will take offense). I write this because I care. I would say the same things to anyone in my family if they were that big. I don’t want anyone to die before they are supposed to because they think they’re healthy when they are not.

Again, if you are HAPPY with who you are and how you look then I am HAPPY for you.

All I’m saying is that if you are 400lbs, you are not healthy. You may be happy but you are not healthy.

Reusing Old Cards

I have a problem. I cannot throw out greeting cards. Any greeting cards. I keep birthday and Christmas cards that the insurance people send me. I have a whole file folder FULL of greeting cards. And I knew I had to do SOMETHING with them (mostly because my hubby told me to find someway to use them).

Here they are, years and years of greeting cards:

So after some Pinterest-ing research, I came up with the idea of making gift tags!

(These are only the cards I could bear to cut up i.e. from insurance agents, realtors, random people I don’t know anymore. I still have to find something to do with ALL the other cards, from people I love!)

I ran to Hobby Lobby and picked up at tag maker. However, the tags turned out funny and I took the tag maker back. I realized I could use my Silhouette to make tags out of the cards, and it was much easier than I thought it would be!

I cut the cards in half and stuck them on my Silhouette Mat. First, I cut out a tag stencil using some stencil paper I had and used that to figure out how many tags I could get out of each card. It worked incredibly well! Once I cut them out, I used a hole punch to punch a hole in the top of each tag.

And the almost finished product! I still have some more cards to cut up and once I’m finished I will tie a little string in each hole and use them as gift tags!

No Get Rich Quick Scheme

Running a business is NO JOKE. And it is most definitely NOT a get-rich-quick-scheme. If anything it’s a get-poor-quick scheme. It’s hard. It’s 24/7. In the back of my mind, I’m always thinking about it, no matter what I’m doing.

I could go on and on about how hard it is. How sometimes people just. don’t. get. it. Just because I run my own business doesn’t mean I have a bunch of free time. Just because I work out of my home office a lot doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything. My business IS my life. I’m not just sitting at home doing nothing.My husband and I both wear a lot of hats for this business. We’re store manager, corporate, human resources, owner, and sometimes when employees call out, we’re sales associates.

Okay. Rant Over.

Running a business is also one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. It’s rewarding. It’s challenging. It’s wonderful. It’s a blessing. Not having to answer to anyone above me is awesome. Having a flexible schedule is the best thing ever! I can move stuff around and take care of my family mostly whenever I need to. There hasn’t been a doctors appointment for my grandparents I’ve missed yet. Out of everything about running my own business, the flexibility is what I love the most. I love being able to BE THERE for my grandparents. Because family is really what life is all about. We only get one of them. Being there for my family is one of the most important things I can do.

I’m so so so so so blessed. And even though some days are so so so rough, in the end it’s so so so worth it.

Living with Acid Reflux

Back in October I got REALLY REALLY sick. For a week, I couldn’t keep anything down. I lost 20lbs. I went to the doctor and went back to the doctor until they FINALLY helped me. I was diagnosed with Gastritis and given two pills, one to take twice a day and one to take 3 times a day.

Gastritis is, basically, acid reflux. (If you want a better description, go look up gastritis). Basically, I woke up sick to my stomach in the morning and if I ate something that disagreed with me, I would be sick all day. I had to really watch what I was eating plus take 5 pills a day. Now, I’m not one who wants to take pills forever so I was trying every acid reflux natural cure I could find. They helped some but still EVERY MORNING I would wake up sick to my stomach. I called & emailed my doctor EVERY WEEK and he said it would just take time.

I’m not a patient person. I’m also lazy. I like to be able to eat what I want when I want it, I’ve always been able to and so this sucked. Finally, in JANUARY, I realized I had to change. It had been 3 months of waking up everyday sick.

I went to the library for books on acid reflux. I picked up “The Dropping Acid Diet”. I LOVE THAT BOOK! This book CHANGED my life. Not only does it give you recipes, it gives you the science behind acid reflux, and chapters on foods that have high acid and low acid.

Anyways, I had to change my diet and give up  A LOT of foods that I love. Chocolate, Tomatoes and Oranges were at the top of that list. But I found that as soon as I started changing my diet, I felt SO much better!

Eating for acid reflux is not easy but so worth it!
